Bicycle Links is Norwich partner for the County Council’s Cycle Loan Scheme.
Under the scheme anyone in Norwich or Great Yarmouth can borrow a well-equipped hybrid bike for four weeks – completely free. The scheme is ideal for anyone who is thinking of using a bike on a regular basis, but doesn’t want to buy one until they have tried it out for a while.
We have good quality Ridgeback and Raleigh bicycles available in all sizes, and also provide a lock, lights and a helmet, with child seats and panniers optional if you need them.
All we ask in return is that you leave a refundable £10 deposit with us, and complete a questionnaire at the end of the loan.
NEW! Electric bikes
We’ve added electric Gazelle ‘Orange’ bikes to the Loan Scheme fleet. The e-bikes can be borrowed for ten days, and require a £50 deposit – otherwise the system is just the same as for non-electric bikes.
How do I join the scheme?
If you are interested in booking a Loan Scheme bike you will need to register first on Norfolk County Council’s website:
Can I buy a bike afterwards?
Yes! You can buy the Loan Scheme bike that you have been using (they are discounted according to how many times they have been borrowed), or one of our reconditioned secondhand bikes, or a brand new cycle – the choice is yours.
